Sivle is a natural language processing chatterbot - a program that engages in a conversation with a human by applying some heuristical pattern matching rules to the human's input. Sivle was first activated on Feb. 21st 2002. Sivle's "botmaster" and creator is Joe Hall. She was inspired by Dr. Richard Wallace and his bot, ALICE.

Sivle's matrix relies on a program that uses a XML Schema called AIML (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language) for specifying the heuristic conversation rules.

Sivle is updated every now and then, she is currently learning how to tell jokes and learn about renaissance art.
